6 Tips that can Lead to Work Flexibility and a Better Life

If there’s one thing that’s constant about life and careers, it’s that everything changes. If you want to reach your full potential while enjoying your work along the way, one of the best things you can do is to learn to adapt to changes and better yourself to become more flexible at work and in life, no matter the circumstance.

AXA Philippines, one of the country’s leading insurance providers, offers these tips on how to be flexible so you can have a great career and life:

Accept what you can’t change. Change is inevitable and it’s something that is outside of our control. Holding on to a false sense of control can cause a lot of stress. It’s better to accept your limited ability to change a person or situation, so you can let go of unnecessary anxieties and frustrations. If you sometimes find yourself doubting whether you can handle a new life choice or career change, keep in mind that you're stronger than you think. There may be vulnerability in uncertainty, but there is also serenity and freedom from accepting things as they are and learning how to adapt to change.

Develop your skill set. Let’s say you’re aiming for a job promotion, or perhaps you just want to take on a new career path, then developing your skills and making an effort to learn new ones is important to help you be equipped and deal with challenges at work and hopefully, in life as well. Keep an eye out for relevant podcasts, short courses, or online webinars, where your career heroes will speak. Also, stay curious and keep up-to-date with industry trends to help ensure that your knowledge and skillset remain relevant.

Be willing to compromise. Sometimes, when working on a group project at work, your ideas and strategies don’t align with your colleagues. Same goes with collaborative efforts at home. But, agreeing to compromise, listening to the group, and spending some time to discuss the planning process are great practices in flexibility. As a group, you can also use techniques such as mind mapping to explore the ideas of all the team members. This will make it easier for you to adapt if you find yourself in a similar situation where you have to follow someone else's lead. The compromise will also make for a better working relationship with others — and may make it easier to complete projects successfully. Making a little effort to compromise can go a long way, making you a lot more flexible in both work and life.

Have a strong support network. Having a supportive and stable network of people around you is essential. You can divide up tasks and give each other feedback and emotional support. That will not only boost collaboration and optimism among your colleagues, but it can also be vital for helping fellow employees get through stressful or tough times, whether in their professional or personal lives. Surrounding yourself with people who you can bounce ideas off and get constructive feedback from can greatly enhance your chance of success. This teaches you the value of teamwork and flexibility when dealing with different personalities and with people from all walks of life.

Step out of your comfort zone. If you want to further improve flexibility at work and in life, coming out of your shell and thinking outside the box can be a good start. Getting out of your comfort zone and trying new things at work and in life is a proactive way to become more adaptable. This may include looking out for tasks or projects that require you to work independently or are outside your area of expertise, by taking the initiative to incorporate something new into your daily routine, you're preparing yourself for the inevitable moment when there may be changes that are out of your control while expanding your horizons at the same time.

Plan ahead. When you're figuring out your life plan, it helps to know what you want to change and what you want to achieve. For most people, that could mean their job, health, finances, or goals. To help you assess how those areas of life are currently working for you, think about what are your values and what truly matters in life.

Moreover, even if you can't predict exactly what will happen, you can still plan for the unexpected. One way of doing so is by looking for a trusted and flexible insurance plan, like AXA MyLifeChoice, which you can adjust based on your budget, protection coverage and preferred payment term. With AXA MyLifeChoice, you can be prepared for any financial setback while you work your way up to manifest your goals.

The more attention and efforts we channel on improving our flexibility in work and life, the more likely we are to do everything we put our minds to and expand our capabilities exponentially. What are These White Pouches Used as Alternative to Cigarettes?

Smoking kills.

In a study of more than 200, 000 people, about 67 percent of smokers perished from smoking-related illnesses.

From all over the globe, around 570 people die every hour due to smoking or almost 10 people per minute.

The smoke coming from a cigarette is more harmful to the people around who inhale the secondhand smoke.

Yearly in the United States, about 34,000 premature deaths from heart disease among nonsmoker is caused mainly by secondhand smoke.

Annually, it is also the cause of around 33,950 deaths from heart disease and 7,330 deaths from lung cancer.

According to U.S. Surgeon General’s report; between 1964 and 2014, 2.5 million people died from exposure to secondhand smoke.

With all these harmful effects, it is just right to ban cigarettes in most places if not possible in all places. But banning the tobacco industry is not easy for the revenue it creates for a certain country, therefore smokers are encouraged to lessen the consumption or totally quit. But then, quitting is also not that easy, so what can smokers do?

Nowadays, there is this so-called nicotine pouches used as alternative to smoking.

These are white pre-portioned pouches that have been in the market for centuries. They are smokeless products that don’t stain the teeth.

The century-old Swedish Match first introduced the concept of these pouches. This Swedish company based in Stockholm started manufacturing a product that did not taste or smell like tobacco. ZYN was the first pouch and it included food-grade ingredients such as pH adjusters, flavorings and sweeteners.

These pouches provide a unique blend of fresh flavors, nicotine, and natural fibers, with a chewing gum base to provide the bags with an optimal softness to fit perfectly under the lips. To maintain the consistency of the pouches,  stabilizers which are plant-based food additive are used. The pH balance of the product is maintained with the use of adjusters and the nicotine salt derived from tobacco leaves delivers the desired nicotine level. Fillers and sweeteners are also added to enhance the flavor of the product.

These pouches are also used in Nicotine Replacement Therapy. NRT, according to many studies have shown that it can nearly double the chances of quitting smoking.

So if you are concerned with your health and the health of the people that matters to you, you should at least try these pouches as an alternative to the harmful cigarette. 10/28/2020 (Bits of Rocks)

5 Must-Know Tips on Preparing a Safer and Healthier Baon

With the easing of quarantine protocols in many parts of the country, employees are starting to adapt to the new normal and return to work. However, things aren't quite back to how they used to be. For instance, many restaurants are still closed, or are open but with limited capacity which, among other important issues, limits the food choices for Filipino workers during break time.

To help with this, Solane, the country's leading LPG brand, offers some tips on safely preparing healthy baon that you can bring to work.

Clean your cooking space. Prior to cooking, make sure to clean every kitchen surface and equipment that your food will come into contact with to stop bacteria from spreading. This includes the countertops, cutting boards, pans, dishes, and even utensils. Wash or wipe them down with warm, soapy water and dry them with a clean cloth or paper towel. Also, do not forget to wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.

Cook with fresh ingredients. Now more than ever, preparing a healthy meal is essential, and cooking at home enables you to do so. Avoid canned or processed food. Instead, buy fresh and high-quality ingredients. Fresh food can really improve your health since it retains more nutrients. Also, you can enjoy a tastier meal because you get the most flavor possible from fresh ingredients. Try supporting local businesses and buy your groceries from them. Many reputable sellers are on social media and offer delivery.

Use insulated containers. Using an insulated lunch box and containers is the best option for packing your meals. Consider investing in them if you haven’t yet. They can keep your food warm and help minimize bacterial contamination and growth. Another advantage of having insulated containers is that they are reusable, eco-friendly, and may be safer. Single-use plastic containers and food wraps may carry a higher risk of cross-contamination.

Store food properly. To avoid rushing to cook your lunch in the morning, it's a good idea to prepare your meal the night before, or even days ahead. When prepping ahead of time, it’s also advisable to know how to store your food properly to maintain its quality. If you’re storing freshly cooked food, let your food cool first for a few minutes before putting it in your fridge to avoid spoilage. Cook a big batch, then divide it into small portions and put in separate containers for each day of the workweek. Also, always check the shelf life of the meals you make.

Turn off all heat sources. After you are done preparing your meals, make sure to turn off all the cooking equipment that you used, especially the gas stove and the LPG cylinder. Moreover, it is best to cook with a trusted liquefied petroleum gas brand like Solane to help ensure safety in the kitchen.

A Heartwarming Celebration for Dad this Father’s Day

This year’s Father’s Day may not be quite normal for all of us, especially with the ongoing pandemic. While we can’t celebrate this special occasion with a big gathering to honor and express our love for Dad, we can still make him feel loved on Father’s Day with these heartwarming ways suggested by Solane, the country’s leading LPG solutions provider:

Prepare his favorite dishes. This special day for dads is the perfect opportunity to cook his favorite dishes. If he’s a meat lover, then you can prepare a spread of burgers, steaks and barbecue. If he is trying to be more healthy, try out some new vegan recipes. Don’t forget to complement his favorite dishes with his favorite drink!

Host a surprise virtual party with his buddies. Because of social distancing rules, you can’t invite dad’s friends over, but you can still make it a memorable occasion by throwing him a virtual surprise party with his friends. Arrange for packs of drinks and pica-pica to be delivered to his friends’ houses and along with an invite indicating the time and log-in details for the online surprise party. Tell guests to sign in a little later than your dad for the added surprise effect. For sure, Dad will enjoy having drinks with his buddies who hasn’t seen in a while.

Grow a garden. If you’re thinking of a refreshing bonding activity with your dad, consider working on a gardening project together. The plants can add a breath of fresh air to your home during community quarantine. If you grow vegetables and fruits, you can also use them next time you cook in the kitchen together. Moreover, growing a family garden presents a great opportunity to putdown your phones and interact with each other face-to-face. That would be a very meaningful gift to give our dads this Father’s Day.

Build something together. Does your dad enjoy building things? This Father’s Day, why not join him and suggest to make something together like a birdhouse or plant box. If the kids are too young to use the tools, bring out the paintbrushes and let them decorate the DIY projects.

Go glamping indoors. In the house’s living room, set up a big mat with pillows, blankets, or beanie bags, where the entire family can comfortably huddle together for a night of bonding. Prepare smores, hotdogs on sticks, and other yummy snacks to lend to the camping feel, but a glamorous one, of course!

Even with everything that’s going on in the world, our dads deserve to have a fun and memorable Father’s Day celebration. For more tips and recipe ideas or to order your Solane LPG to cook for dad, visit www.solane.com.ph. 06/17/2020 9Bits of Rocks)
