Ping Medina Shares His Indie Film Experience!

He is the son of the veteran actor Pen Medina. He starred in the different Kapamilya TV series before particularly in "Tayong Dalawa" where he played the sidekick of Coco Martin. But he became popular when he portrayed the character of Tiyo Carlo, the kind and loving uncle of Mara and the secret-holder in the 2010 remake of "Mara Clara."

Aside from TV, he even played different characters in the movie and in the different stage plays. Until last week, I finally met him in person as he starred in an exciting Indie Film.

Ping Medina is one of the two leading men of Kaye Abad in the historical film "Iliw" or "Nostalgia." During the red carpet advanced screening of the said movie in SM Megamall, I interviewed Ping about his latest Indie Film.

Ping narrated the highlights of his character in the film. His character was truly inlove with Fidela, the character of Kaye. But Fidela falls to the Japanese soldier.

According to Ping, "Iliw" is based on the true story set on the Japanese era. Because of the love between Fidela and the Japanese soldier, the City of Vigan was saved from tragedy! And yes, I witnessed that part on the movie. And that was truly tearful.

The movie was shot in the beautiful and in the rich place of Vigan, Ilocos Norte. The term "Iliw" actually means "nostalgia" in English.

Here is my video interview with Ping. Let's all watch this:

At the end of the movie, you can find yourself crying. The story was so touching. It will truly leave pain in our hearts specially when one character in the story sacrificed not only his love but also his life to save the person he truly loves!

And I now understand why the City of Vigan is still standing strong. Thanks for the true love! (RCB)

Common Problems of College Students Tackle in 'Dorm Boys!'

College years for me is one of my best years as a student. This is the time where I emerged as a student achiever in different aspects - leadership, honor roll, scholarships, and love life!. But though college years were my golden years, I also encountered different problems and struggles faced by ordinary students.

These different challenges of college students were tackled in the latest indie film "Dorm Boys." Usually when we heard of 'indie film,' the first thing that comes in our mind is sexy or adult movies. But "Dorm Boys" erased that bad impressions to indie films.

"Puso,"  "Pera," "Parents," and "Professors" were the four major Ps or problems of every student. These problems were faced by the five college barkadas who were living together in one dormitory!

With Arvic Rivero

With Aaron Villaflor

With Renz Michael
The movie is led by the four young actors namely Arvic Rivero, Ryan Kevin, Renz Michael, Carlo Lazerna, and Aaron Villaflor. The story revolves around them narrating their respective stories!

In the movie XLR8 member Carlo Lazerna deals with his college course. He is battling on which to pursue, engineering which his parents want for him or architecture which is his own desire.

Newest teen hearrthrob Arvic Rivero is dealing with problems of love at the same time pursuing his dream to got a green card and live outside the country.

Another newbie Ryan Kevin's story focused on dealing with hearthaches. He fall in love with a beautiful young lady who was mistakenly identified as a young prostitute.

Renz Michael story also involved love and studies. His girlfriend in the movie is also his professor. It's the matter of putting boundaries between a teacher-girlfriend relationship!

And of course the mainstream actor in the movie Aaron Villaflor deals with family problems. He is an illegitimate child of a family-man played by Bobby Yan. His father can't accept him as his son since this will create an issue with his current family!

With Carlo Lazerna
 The Movie Worth-Watching!

The movie discussed how these youngsters deals with such problems and showed how they overcome these challenges. They were all ordinary students who encountered common teen problems. But in the end of the story, see how they emerge as winners overtaking their own trials!

Here is the full trailer of the said movie. Let's all watch this:

The movie gives inspirations to every students. It tells the young viewers to be strong, don't easily give up, and keep on fighting amid of different trials. All of us have our own problems to face. But at the end of the day, try to realize that if "nakaya nila, dapat kayanin ko rin!"

Another good thing about this movie is that, it is light and cool to watch though tackling serious problems! After watching it, you might say, "naka-relate ako!" It is successful in captivating the target audiences which are the youth!

I even love how the stories of each student were put together! They inter-relate one another!

"Dorm Boys" is another SM Cinema Exclusive! Yes, this movie is shown exclusively in all the SM Cinemas! It was officially opened this Wednesday, November 7, 2012 but had a red carpet premiere night the day before its official showing (November 6).

I also enjoyed mingling and talking with the casts of the movie. They were present during the premiere night!  I'll share with you our encounters in my succeeding posts.

Two thumbs up to this movie! It is truly worth watching! (RCB)

I got a chance to meet and talk with the so-called "Indie Film Princess" Ms. Mercedez Cabral during the grand presscon of the main-indie or MaIndie film "Biktima!"

Well, we didn't only shared a good picture-taking together but also shared great moments together in a video.

Mercedez willingly endorsed my five main blogs. And of course, I also endorsed her latest movie together with Cesar Montano and Angel Aquino called "Biktima."

Horror Marathon!

Photobucket
It was a "Horror on Holy" last week! Truly, thriller and terror dominate my holy week vacation last week!

Oops...don't get me wrong! We're not too advance for the Halloween celebration or too late for last year's event. This is not my Halloween special edition, rather it's for my holy week post! Haha!

Yeah, it's for the holy week! For this moment, let us give the holy week a brand new image. Instead of talking religion, rituals, or trips, let me share with you my last holy week's main activity. It was truly a terrifying days!

Yup, since there was no TV programs last Holy Thursday, Friday, and Saturday besides watching the Holy Week Marathon of the hit TV Series "Agua Bendita", I had my own marathon. It was called the "Horror Marathon"! I've watched all the latest hit Filipino horror movies in the DVD using my Sony Bravia!

Here are they:

I was Surprised with the Supporting Stars in this Movie!

I Like the Mystery Behind the Story!

Too Short to Watch...

I Love the Way How the Two Stories were Connected!

These were some of the horror movies I've watched last Holy Thursday, Friday, and Saturday! Actually, I have other foreign movie lineups after watching these. These were "The Echo", "Jennifer's Body", "Wrong Turn", and "Days With The Dead"! But, three days were not enough to watch those other movies. I will then schedule another time to watch those!

Aside from these horror movies, I also watched the film of John Lloyd Cruz, Luis Manzano, and Vilma Santos which is "In My Life"! The story was really great! Like it! =)

Beside these movies, more new movies were inside our locker which wasn't yet watched. These were Angel Locsin-Piolo Pascual's "Love Me Again", Mega and Ai-Ai's "BFF", Indie Film's "Mangkukulam", and KC-Richard's "For the First Time"!

And also, I will set my time to buy other more new DVDs like "New Moon", "Tanging Pamilya", "Shake Rattle and Roll", "Paano Na Kaya", "Mano Po 6", "Miss You Like Crazy", "Ang Darling Kong Aswang", and "Patient X"! Of course, include in my list the bold Indie Films! Haha! Keep it as our top secret!

So, that's how I concluded my three days Holy Week vacation! Of course, I didn't forget to pray and visit the church! c",)

Upcoming 'Animaserye' Teaser

I know you really love my first animaserye offering, "Sa Piling Ng Mga Pusa" with an english working subtitle "In The Hands of the Cats"!

But don't worry 'coz this is not only the first and the last. Yeah, you're definitely right 'coz many more animaserye episodes will come on this blog! Are you excited to the other more animaserye stories!?

So, get ready with the next animaserye stories. These were the following with their corresponding subtitles that you shouldn't miss:

* "Pusa, Pusa...Paano Ka Ginawa?" (How You Were Made?)

* "Munting Osong Nakapula" (Little Red Ridding Bear)

* "Pusang Puti" (White Cat)

* "Magkatipan Sa Kagubatan" (Lovers In Forest)

* "Nasaan Ka Daga?" (Where Are You?)

* "Silang Mga Tuta" (They were Dogs)

Hahaha...seems that you are watching an Indie film ha! But then, since the Metro Manila Film Festival is fast approaching, my pet animals will also compete with their very own animaserye!

See how great they are! They will compete or they have both entries for MMFF and for the Primetime TV series with their animaserye because they have an animaserye as counterpart of our todays teleserye with an indie film-like title! All in one! Hahaha...!

I also like to congratulate Mimi and Pipi for their first starring role in "Sa Piling Ng Mga Pusa" together with Miming Negro and to the rest of the cast! c",)
