Shake, Shake, Shake at TSK!

Tambayan Sa Kanto or TSK is a restaurant known for serving authentic Filipino cuisines from the different part of the region. Best-selling dishes like crispy bagnet, roasted garlic chicken, crunchy grilled lobster, baked tilapia, kare-kare, and many more all-time favorite Pinoy goodness were some of the signature dishes of the resto which put it on top of the competition against the other. But aside from these, did you know that TSK is also champion in terms of serving desserts and coolers?!

Yes, I admit, I'm a big fan of shakes and coolers. Whenever I'm in a restaurant or in any food establishment, what I order for drinks is always shakes or coolers. I love the milk, chocolate, or pearl shakes. And I'm glad that TSK also offers my favorite delight. :)

Knowing Tambayan Sa Kanto, they make ordinary foods extra ordinary! I've already proved that in my previous posts. And they made it again this time in terms of my favorite shakes and coolers. Well, let's take a glance in some of Tambayan's binabalik-balikang shake goodness!

TSK's Very Own Ripe Mango Shake

My Favorite Chocolate Shake Served in Tambayan's Way

Mango is Philippine's national flagship fruit. Definitely, this is part of restaurant's recipe. And they serve it in their own creative way. They put greatness in the unripe mango converting it into their very own Green Mango Shake.

I love how TSK presented their ripe mango shake. Yes, it was very creative! They serve it in two versions - the first one with red watermelon on top decorated with green mango skins while the other is colored with blue berries and with slices of green mango standees. Their creative presentation of green unripe mango shakes depicts an island cove!

What I love most in these Tambayan's shakes were not only their artistic presentation, but also their great taste! Yes, the taste combines the sour goodness of the unripe green mango blended with its sweet toppings and cream milk. "Ang sarap! Talagang umulit ako!" First and second rounds were definitely not enough! "Mapapa-ulit ka talaga ng maka-ilang beses..."

I'm Proud to be a Tambayan's Shake Endorser

Tasting these Tambayan's shakes, I couldn't help myself to take a picture of myself holding and tasting a shake goodness. And if given a chance, I want to become an endorser of Tambayan Sa Kanto's shakes with a huge billboard up and posted in the busy road of EDSA! Hehe...

Aside from the green mango shake, TSK also offers the ripe mango, the chocolate, and the vanilla flavored shakes. Below are some of their photos that will quench your thirst:

Tambayan's Version of Vanilla Shake

To complete the list of Tambayan's fruit shakes, joining the bandwagon are the banana, the papaya, the pomelo, and the melon shakes!

For only Php85.00, you can taste the goodness of Tambayan Sa Kanto's very own version of fruit, milk, and chocolate shakes!

Before I end up my post, I will let you visualize how creative TSK serve their very own ripe mango shake. Here is the said goodness blended in blue:

Bloggers Rock Tambayan Sa Kanto!

After the success of our "Fun with Philip" program launch last July 2014, me and my blogger friends returned in our favorite food tambayan, Tambayan Sa Kanto. This time, we enjoyed the event so-called "Tambayan Sa Kanto Bloggers' Night Food Trip" which I spearheaded.

The event's main goal is to taste and review some of the best-selling Filipino foods offered by TSK and to have more information about this fine-dinning restaurant which serves all the best Filipino dishes around the region. But the event eventually turned into a fun-filled and another food-fulled night as the group enjoyed different social media games and wacky picture takings!

Social media played a great impact on the night of August 23, 2014 as the blogger participants posted cool, wacky, and yummy photos, activities, and statues in their Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts about the happening in TSK. The most creative, artistic, and cool posts with the most number of likes and shares won exciting cash prizes!

Well for the meantime, I will not focus on Tambayan's food. Rather, I'll share with you our cool and fun moments during our food trip. Here are some of our 'not-food' photos:

Tambayan Sa Kanto Gives New Taste to Our All-Time Favorite Street Foods!

When we say Filipino foods, the so-called street foods which already became Pinoy's all-time favorite may also flash on our minds. Barbeque, fishballs, kwek-kwek, betamax, and other goodies were some of the instances which already comprised the Filipino culture.

It's good to know that Tambayan Sa Kanto or TSK or simply Sa Kanto, a classy Filipino restaurant located in the heart of The Podium which serves different Pinoy cuisines from the different region of the country gives a brand new connotation to these 'street foods.'

During our bloggers' night one rainy Saturday for "Fun with Philip" where we conducted the event in this place, TSK served us different Pinoy signature dishes. We had the grilled lobster, crispy bagnet, coconut crushed fish fillet, empanada with Ilocano vinegar, and ensaladang pusit to name few. But what surprised us on that food-fulled rainy night were the all-time favorite Pinoy street foods which came with brand new goodness!

TSK have their very own versions of pork barbeque, fish balls, and turon. Well these three Pinoy goodies sound ordinary. But when you taste them, you can say that you already tasted three of the best foods in the Philippines!

For some, turon is just a plain banana wrapped in pambalot ng lumpia. But TSK put a new twist in this favorite Pinoy dessert - they partnered it with langka sauce making it a world-class sweet dessert!

Well, check out some of the yummy photos of the foods Sa Kanto served to us during our event:

An All-Time Favorite Pork Barbeque

The Best-Selling Street Food Fish Ball

TSK's Spicy Talong

Kanto's Very Own Lemon Salad Dressing

Sweet Turon with Langka Sauce

The Appetizer Empanada with Ilocano Spiced Vinegar

"Pictures pa lang, ang sarap na!" I know you are already craving while reading this post. :)

Talong or eggplant is not my favorite vegetable. I'd rathet eat okra than talong! But when Sa Kanto served us their version of spicy talong in small stick for pica-pica, my view on this vegetable eventually changed!

Salad and squid are two of my favorite foods. What if these two things were put together into one great dish?! Yeah, TSK made that via their very own Ensaladang Crispy Squid with TSK Salad Dressing! Awesome! It pulled me to have my second round! Haha!

"Nagugutom ka na ba?!" You want more?! Well, check out more great foods served to us on that rainy bloggers' night below:

The Chorizo Gambas

The Grilled Lobster with Lemon Sauce

The Coconut Crusted Fish Fillet

With great foods served to their customers and with the very nice ambiance of the place, I admit, Tambayan Sa Kanto is really my favorite restaurant! I've been in this place since last year. And because I'm too very busy with the different commitments, I wasn't able to visit this place for many months. But when opportunity came (this Fun with Philip Bloggers' Night), I strongly recommended this restaurant to sir Philip Abadicio as the venue for our event! And Philip, the staffs of the show, and my blogger friends exceeded their expectation for this restaurant! All of us went home happy and full! :)

Remember this logo of the best restaurant in town which serves all our favorite Filipino cuisine:

Food Bits: Tasting a Crunchy Grilled Lobster at Tambayan Sa Kanto!

I admit, I am really a big fan of seafoods! Yes, if you ask me what type of food is my favorite, I'll definitely answer you with SEAFOOD. Grilled squid, calamares, shrimp, sugpo, oyster, and lobster are some of my favorite which comprise this category.

Before my 21KM major run in Milo Marathon on the last week of July, I've organized the relaunch of the lifestyle show "Fun with Philip." When Philip Abadicio, the host of the TV show asked me if what restaurant should we conduct the Bloggers' Night for his show, I quickly recommended Tambayan Sa Kanto! Yes, this is my favorite restaurant which offers the all-time favorite Pinoy cuisine from the different regions of the country. When Philip visited the said place, he agreed with me! The place is so nice and the foods were great!

When the actual bloggers' night took place on a rainy Saturday night, all my blogger friends who were invited got amazed when the resto served us their best dishes. Actually from appetizer to main dishes up to the dessert and drinks served to us, walang itulak-kabigin! "Panalo sa sarap at uniquness!"

Well, before I share with you the different great foods served to us during our event, allow me to put first in spotlight this main dish called Grilled Lobster! "Favorite ko 'to e!"

"Itsura pa lamang, ang sarap na," I said to myself! Aside from squid or pusit, lobster or alupihan is really my childhood favorite! And it excited me when Ms. Margaret, the owner of this resto shared with me that part of the menu in the main dish is this yummy grilled lobster!

I often tasted a fried or a sinangag na lobster but Tambayan Sa Kanto put a new twist to my favorite seafood dish. They served us their grilled version with lemon butter sauce! "Wow, ang sarap!" It truly tasted great! I can say that their very own version of grilled lobster is the best seafood dish I've tasted so far!

This grilled lobster is so crunchy and crispy! "Malutong mula laman hanggang balat!" "Talagang hindi ko pinatawad namnamin ang malinamnam niyang balat!" It's awesome! The lemon butter sauce added more flavor to the grilled lobster!

"More rice please!" This grilled lobster with extra steamed rice served as my carbo-loading on my 21km. major run hours later. :)

On my next posts, I'll share with you more great foods served to us by Tambayan Sa Kanto.

An Interview with Lougee and Ali Alejandro!

One Friday night, we met in person two of the country's rock icons Lougee Basabas  and Ali Alejandro. The two were both part of the Pinoy alternative rock band Mojofly.

Mojofly were the band responsible for the hit songs like "Mata" and "Tumatakbo" - two of the songs we loved with my college bestfriend. The said songs somewhat reflected our college love lives for the said year.

Lougee and Ali had their gig in Tambayan Sa Kanto dubbed as "Togs Sa Kanto." Right after their performance, we interviewed the two icons. And here is our video interview with them:

That was actually my second time to meet Ali. I first met and interviewed him in 7TH High, BGC as he was also the drummer of Chris Cayzer during the said gig. Yes, Ali is the son of the OPM icon Hadji Alejandro and of course the sister of the OPM diva Rachel Alejandro.

Meanwhile, that was my first time to meet Lougee. Yes, she is the lead vocalist of Mojofly. The said band was renamed to Delara composing of the same members of the band. As I've narrated in my previous post, Lougee became a mainstay of "Eat Bulaga" and already appeared in the different TV commercials and print advertisements.

In the video, Lougee and Ali revealed that they were set to return on TV via an exciting new TV show. They didn't yet disclose the said TV program but definitely, all of us were excited for it!

Lougee and Ali were regular performers of Tambayan Sa Kanto. Every month, they showcased different performance in the said bar that offers all type of Filipino cuisines.

Well if you want to enjoy good food while listening to good music, visit Tambayan Sa Kanto located at the ground floor of The Podium, Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

See you again soon Lougee and Ali! It was such a great night to jam with you! (RCB)

Rockin' with Mojofly's Lougee and Rocky!

Way back in college, me and my bestfriend truly loved the songs called "Tumatakbo" and "Mata" which were both popularized by the Pinoy alternative rock band Mojofly. Their music and the meanings of their songs truly fitted us that time. And because of their music, yes, we eventually love the band!

After seven years, I'm glad that I finally met in person the voice behind the band we like most. She's no other than Ms. Lougee Basabas or better known as Lougee. Lougee had her very successful performance in Tambayan Sa Kanto's "Togs Sa Kanto" gig one Friday night!

At first I didn't know Lougee since she is part of the band for many times. Until I met and talked with her, we found that she is the lead vocalist and the leader of the band Mojofly who popularized the songs we love!

Well to refresh your mind about the songs I'm talking about, I've brought you the music videos of their popular and our college favorite songs "Tumatakbo" and "Mata." Let's watch these:

 "Tumatakbo" Music Video:

"Mata" Music Video:

And of course, I took my opportunity to have her together in photos. Check out our rockin' photos above and below this post:

During my interview with Lougee, she revealed that their band Mojofly was renamed to Delara. Until the members of the group went solo.

It's also great to know that the OPM icon Hadji Alejandro's son and Rachel's brother Ali Alejandro is also part of their band. And he is always present in their regular gigs!

More on Lougee, she was part of Eat Bulaga's dabarkads. She even endorsed many products and appeared in the different TV commercials before.

On my succeeding post, I'll share with you my video interview with Lougee and Ali! So stay tune! (RCB)

Meeting the "Moonlight Over Paris" Acoustic Prince Paolo Santos!

Who can't forget his greatest love song "Moonlight Over Paris" which revitalized the return of the acoustic love songs in the music scene?! Well, I'm only a college student that time when the said song dominated the different radio stations giving rise to original prince of acoustic music, Paolo Santos!

Again, I was so privileged to meet and talk with this Acoustic Prince Paolo Santos one Friday night in Tambayan Sa Kanto. On the said night, Paolo is featured and performed in the resto-bar's "Acoustic Night."

Well before  anything else, check out our cool photos together:

It seems that we've traveled back in the early part of 2000's as Paolo played his music. He made me reminisce my college love stories as he sang his undying hit "Moonlight Over Paris" and his very own rendition of the previous hit song "Because of You."

Aside from the said songs, Paolo even serenaded us with his versions of the love songs like "Overjoyed," "Close," "Perfect Day," and "I'll Be Over You."

Paolo is not only a good singer, he is also a perfect guitarist! He played his own instrument which is his guitar while singing. Check him out performing below:

While enjoying the music of Paolo, me and my good friend Carlo even enjoyed the foods served to us by Tambayan Sa Kanto. I ordered my favorite kare-kare (this time kare-kareng bagnet) and tinapa rice while my friend enjoyed pancit guisado. And for drinks, I was satisfied by the banana-papaya shake while Carlo by iced margarita!

Those were just some of the great foods served by Tambayan Sa Kanto. The restaurant was known as an All-Filipino Cuisine Restaurant Cafe as it serves all types of Pinoy regional foods!

And yes, aside from the Pinoy foods, Tambayan also shows "Acoustic Nights" every Friday and Saturday nights featuring the different famous and talented Filipino artists! And one of these is Paolo Santos!

Want to enjoy great music while enjoying Filipino dishes at the same time?! Well, come and visit Tambayan Sa Kanto located at the ground floor of The Podium, Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

So let's go, tara, tambay na! (RCB)
