Bloggers Rock Tambayan Sa Kanto!

After the success of our "Fun with Philip" program launch last July 2014, me and my blogger friends returned in our favorite food tambayan, Tambayan Sa Kanto. This time, we enjoyed the event so-called "Tambayan Sa Kanto Bloggers' Night Food Trip" which I spearheaded.

The event's main goal is to taste and review some of the best-selling Filipino foods offered by TSK and to have more information about this fine-dinning restaurant which serves all the best Filipino dishes around the region. But the event eventually turned into a fun-filled and another food-fulled night as the group enjoyed different social media games and wacky picture takings!

Social media played a great impact on the night of August 23, 2014 as the blogger participants posted cool, wacky, and yummy photos, activities, and statues in their Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram accounts about the happening in TSK. The most creative, artistic, and cool posts with the most number of likes and shares won exciting cash prizes!

Well for the meantime, I will not focus on Tambayan's food. Rather, I'll share with you our cool and fun moments during our food trip. Here are some of our 'not-food' photos:

Oops, the fun and excitement didn't yet stop on that Saturday night! Bloggers who joined this cool bloggers' night food trip were all entitled for a new competition called as the Battle for the Best Blog Post! Oh yes, the blogger with the best blog post for this event will win a special prize! Exciting!

On my next posts here in my personal blog and in my other lifestyle blog which is The Lifestyle Portal, I'll share with you the foods served to us by TSK making all of us hyper-active and enthusiastic!

Tambayan Sa Kanto Gives New Taste to Our All-Time Favorite Street Foods!

When we say Filipino foods, the so-called street foods which already became Pinoy's all-time favorite may also flash on our minds. Barbeque, fishballs, kwek-kwek, betamax, and other goodies were some of the instances which already comprised the Filipino culture.

It's good to know that Tambayan Sa Kanto or TSK or simply Sa Kanto, a classy Filipino restaurant located in the heart of The Podium which serves different Pinoy cuisines from the different region of the country gives a brand new connotation to these 'street foods.'

During our bloggers' night one rainy Saturday for "Fun with Philip" where we conducted the event in this place, TSK served us different Pinoy signature dishes. We had the grilled lobster, crispy bagnet, coconut crushed fish fillet, empanada with Ilocano vinegar, and ensaladang pusit to name few. But what surprised us on that food-fulled rainy night were the all-time favorite Pinoy street foods which came with brand new goodness!

TSK have their very own versions of pork barbeque, fish balls, and turon. Well these three Pinoy goodies sound ordinary. But when you taste them, you can say that you already tasted three of the best foods in the Philippines!

For some, turon is just a plain banana wrapped in pambalot ng lumpia. But TSK put a new twist in this favorite Pinoy dessert - they partnered it with langka sauce making it a world-class sweet dessert!

Well, check out some of the yummy photos of the foods Sa Kanto served to us during our event:

An All-Time Favorite Pork Barbeque

The Best-Selling Street Food Fish Ball

TSK's Spicy Talong

Kanto's Very Own Lemon Salad Dressing

Sweet Turon with Langka Sauce

The Appetizer Empanada with Ilocano Spiced Vinegar

"Pictures pa lang, ang sarap na!" I know you are already craving while reading this post. :)

Talong or eggplant is not my favorite vegetable. I'd rathet eat okra than talong! But when Sa Kanto served us their version of spicy talong in small stick for pica-pica, my view on this vegetable eventually changed!

Salad and squid are two of my favorite foods. What if these two things were put together into one great dish?! Yeah, TSK made that via their very own Ensaladang Crispy Squid with TSK Salad Dressing! Awesome! It pulled me to have my second round! Haha!

"Nagugutom ka na ba?!" You want more?! Well, check out more great foods served to us on that rainy bloggers' night below:

The Grilled Lobster with Lemon Sauce

The Coconut Crusted Fish Fillet

With great foods served to their customers and with the very nice ambiance of the place, I admit, Tambayan Sa Kanto is really my favorite restaurant! I've been in this place since last year. And because I'm too very busy with the different commitments, I wasn't able to visit this place for many months. But when opportunity came (this Fun with Philip Bloggers' Night), I strongly recommended this restaurant to sir Philip Abadicio as the venue for our event! And Philip, the staffs of the show, and my blogger friends exceeded their expectation for this restaurant! All of us went home happy and full! :)

Remember this logo of the best restaurant in town which serves all our favorite Filipino cuisine:

Food Bits: Tasting a Crunchy Grilled Lobster at Tambayan Sa Kanto!

I admit, I am really a big fan of seafoods! Yes, if you ask me what type of food is my favorite, I'll definitely answer you with SEAFOOD. Grilled squid, calamares, shrimp, sugpo, oyster, and lobster are some of my favorite which comprise this category.

Before my 21KM major run in Milo Marathon on the last week of July, I've organized the relaunch of the lifestyle show "Fun with Philip." When Philip Abadicio, the host of the TV show asked me if what restaurant should we conduct the Bloggers' Night for his show, I quickly recommended Tambayan Sa Kanto! Yes, this is my favorite restaurant which offers the all-time favorite Pinoy cuisine from the different regions of the country. When Philip visited the said place, he agreed with me! The place is so nice and the foods were great!

When the actual bloggers' night took place on a rainy Saturday night, all my blogger friends who were invited got amazed when the resto served us their best dishes. Actually from appetizer to main dishes up to the dessert and drinks served to us, walang itulak-kabigin! "Panalo sa sarap at uniquness!"

Well, before I share with you the different great foods served to us during our event, allow me to put first in spotlight this main dish called Grilled Lobster! "Favorite ko 'to e!"

"Itsura pa lamang, ang sarap na," I said to myself! Aside from squid or pusit, lobster or alupihan is really my childhood favorite! And it excited me when Ms. Margaret, the owner of this resto shared with me that part of the menu in the main dish is this yummy grilled lobster!

I often tasted a fried or a sinangag na lobster but Tambayan Sa Kanto put a new twist to my favorite seafood dish. They served us their grilled version with lemon butter sauce! "Wow, ang sarap!" It truly tasted great! I can say that their very own version of grilled lobster is the best seafood dish I've tasted so far!

This grilled lobster is so crunchy and crispy! "Malutong mula laman hanggang balat!" "Talagang hindi ko pinatawad namnamin ang malinamnam niyang balat!" It's awesome! The lemon butter sauce added more flavor to the grilled lobster!

"More rice please!" This grilled lobster with extra steamed rice served as my carbo-loading on my 21km. major run hours later. :)

On my next posts, I'll share with you more great foods served to us by Tambayan Sa Kanto.

Food Bits: Get to Know 'Kare-Kareng Bagnet!'

Kare-Kare is one of my favorite ulam. I love the kare-kare made with pata or twualya (beef's internal part). Yes, this very own Pinoy favorite comes in different types or in different flavors. At first, I thought that kare-kare comes only in two (that I mentioned above). But actually, there's more!
On Friday night, I met Kare-Kareng Bagnet in Tambayan Sa Kanto. And it tastes awesome!

Well before I eat this yummy dish, I took first photos of it so that I can share it with you. So, feed your appetite and crave below:

Bagnet is a crunchy pork's liempo. It is usually fried ala-lechon kawali or serves as a topping of lugaw. But this time, I found and tasted a new recipe for bagnet. That is via my favorite kare-kare.

Kare-Kareng Bagnet was served with a saucy peanut sauce. Veggies like sitaw, talong (eggplant), and puso ng saging were mixed into it.

Served hot and freshly cooked, I couldn't helped myself to eat it! I even took home some to share it with my mother and brother. Just like me, they started to love this new breed of kare-kare

I truly salute Tambayan Sa Kanto for serving us a very Filipino cuisines like this! They are truly lifting up the Filipinos now in terms of serving our signature dishes, the regional favorite Pinoy foods.

Want to taste more?! Well, visit and dine in Tambayan Sa Kanto located at the ground floor of The Podium, Ortigas Center, Pasig City. Aside from Pinoy recipes, you can also enjoy great music every Friday and Saturday nights via Acoustic Nights featuring different artists.

Two thumbs up Tambayan Sa Kanto, the place I love to hangout! (RCB)

Food Bits: Tasting Tambayan's Very Own 'Tinapa Rice!'

Last Friday night, me and my good friend once more visited our favorite tambayan resto-bar in The Podium, the Tambayan Sa Kanto. We jammed with the celebrity guest Paolo Santos who was that night's "Acoustic Night" featured celebrity.

What caught my interest during the night was the food I ordered. I got amazed when I learned that Tambayan offers a type of rice called "Tinapa Rice!" And this is unique which we can only order in Tambayan.

We were very much familiar with fried rice, java rice, japanese rice, pandan rice, or any types of rice offered by different restaurants. Now this time, get ready to know Tinapa Rice

Check out the up, close photos of Tinapa Rice and tell me why it is called as such:

Tinapa Rice is a rice topped with Tinapa (smoked fish) bits. Completing the cast of this very good yummy dish are itlog na maalat (salty egg), tomato slices, onion rings, and dahon ng sibuyas. It tastes a little salty which compromised the tasteless taste of the ordinary rice.

As you can see, Tinapa Rice is very Filipino! If there is a Japanese Rice which carries the banner of Japan, then here at Tambayan, we have our very own Filipino Rice named Tinapa Rice which is Pinoy foods another flagship!

Tinapa Rice is only one of the great Filipino recipes that you can taste here and only here at Tambayan Sa Kanto. Yes, this resto-bar is a restaurant very much popular of serving different Filipino cuisines. Name your favorite Pinoy foods or regional foods, they have it cooked with love and hospitality - the two traits Filipinos are known! :)

Want to taste more Pinoy favorites? Well, come and visit Tambayan Sa Kanto located at the Ground Floor of The Podium, Ortigas Center, Pasig City. Eat and enjoy the music! (RCB)

Chris Cayzer's Cover Songs During His First 'Acoustic Night' in 'Tambayan Sa Kanto!'

The international heartthrob artist Chris Cayzer had his very first gig in "Tambayan Sa Kanto" in The Podium, Ortigas Center, Pasig City on the Friday night of April 12, 2013.

The event was dubbed as the "Acoustic Night" wherein Chris performed his versions of the different love songs from the 80's up to our present generation.

Some of the songs that he performed during the night were were Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know,"  Bruno Mars' "Marry You," and Rihanna's "Diamonds."

Here are my videos clips showing Chris performing his cover of the said songs. Let's all watch and listen to these:

"Somebody That I Used To Know"

"Marry You"

"Diamonds"

Chris got a standing ovation before and after performing "Somebody That I Used to Know." Then, he captured the hearts of many as he sang "Marry Me." And of course, he let us hear his own acoustic version of Rihanna's "Diamonds". And take note, he dedicated this song to me! He mentioned my name before singing it! :)

While getting inspire with his love songs, we at the same time were also enjoying the foods served by "Tambayan Sa Kanto." On the said night, we had the Baked Tilapia and Enpanada for dinner plus the crunchy home-made Turon for dessert. Definitely, our hearts and stomachs were satisfied both at the same time!

"Tambayan Sa Kanto" is actually a resto-bar which serves all authentic Filipino cuisines of the different regions. It even offers an "Eat-All-You-Can" buffet promo during lunch and dinner for only Php399. And during Friday and Saturday nights, they serenade the audience with "Acoustic Nights" wherein different artists perform on the center stage.

Tonight, April 19, 2013 performing in Tambayan's "Acoustic Night" is former South Border's member Vince Alaras. On Saturday, April 20, it's the acoustic princess Alijah Parcs. Then next Friday, April 26, Chris Cayzer returns back-to-back with Janjay Coquila on Saturday, April 27.

Enjoying Good Food At The Same Time Good Music at the 'Tambayan Sa Kanto!'

For the second time around, I met and mingled with the international heartthrob singer Chris Cayzer. This time, during his very first gig in "Tambayan sa Kanto" resto-bar in The Podium, Ortigas Center, Pasig City on a Friday night of April 12, 2013.

Chris is a solo performer on the said night in an event dubbed as "Acoustic Nights with Chris Cayzer"  wherein he performed collections of love songs from different eras. Yeah, Chris performed combination of acoustic love songs from the 80's up to the present generation.

Aside from enjoying and getting inspire with the music of Chris, we even discover something great with the venue, in the "Tambayan sa Kanto."

Tambayan Sa Kanto Serves All Types of Filipino Cuisines

This Crunchy Turon Delicacy is My Favorite

It's nice to know that this resto-bar serves all the best Filipino dishes from the different regions. This is the place in the Metro where we can find all the authentic Filipino cuisines. As they say, it's the place for the "orihinal na lutong Pinoy!"

During the night, we were able to taste their very own Baked Tilapia for dinner, Enpanada dipped into the spicy vinegar, and the crunchy Pinoy Style Turon which was my favorite dessert for the night!

Actually "Tambayan Sa Kanto" offers an "Eat-All-You-Can Buffet " with Acoustic Nights every Fridays and Saturdays for only Php399. Wow, that is really affordable! Imagine, you enjoy the yummy Pinoy foods at the same time, you enjoy the goodness of inspiring music! Awesome!

The resto's lunch buffet starts from 11am to 3pm then their dinner buffer begins from 6pm to 10pm.
Of course as we always do with Chris,  we posed again for another great shots! Below are two of our many photos taken during the night:
