FedRun 2019: Celebrating Another CNY Taking Part in a Fun Run

Every Chinese New Year, it's always my tradition to run in a CNY-inspired running event. I started running in CNY Lucky Chinese Run in 2016. The tradition continues up to this year.

But this 2019, instead of my usual CNY Lucky Run, me and my running team will run instead in the FedRun 2019, another edition of the Chinese New Year - Inspired running event.

To give you quick facts about FedRun, the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Alumni Associations Incorporated (FFCAAI) is an organization that aims to unite the Filipino-Chinese community. They started the annual FedRun in 2014 which aims to promote camaraderie, healthy and active lifestyle, close family ties and social awareness.

For this Fedrun2019, it will be a thematic run in-line with the Chinese New Year and participants will get a chance to get free tikoy when they register for the 10KM run!

What more, yours truly Runner Rocky and my #TeamRR is the official group partner of this race. Check out the poster below of this running event:

The running event has three distance categories - 3K, 5K, and 10K respectively! Except for a Free tikoy in the 10K category, all categories will have the event shirt, race bib, a medal and loot bags.

The actual running event will be this Sunday, February 17 at SM by the Bay! The event was launched in celebration of Federation of Filipino-Chinese Alumni Associations Incorporated (FFCAAI) 10th Founding Anniversary and Chinese New Year.

So see you all runners and friends and let's run together for prosperity, happiness, love, wellness, and wealth! 02/11/2019 (Bits of Rocks)

Welcome to the Year of the Earth Pig!

As I continue to spread good vibes and prosperous new year in line with the 2019 celebration of the #CNY, let me share with you another exciting blog post.

For the second time around, I met my Chinoy brother David Licauco. Yeah, he is now one of the most promising hunk heartthrob in the Kapuso network and is one of the lead stars of their newest romcom TV series "Toda One I Love" joining Kylie Padilla  and Ruru Madrid.

Just like yours truly, David is a Chinoy. He is a half-Pinoy and a half Chinese. His mother is the Chinese while his father is a Filipino.

Since we're both Chinese, David and I talked about the 2019 Chinese New Year  or the CNY. David shared their traditions. How did David celebrate the Chinese New Year? What are the beliefs they were following? Well, let's watch my vlog video interview with him:

Meanwhile, here is the related video where we talked about his current TV series airing now in GMA Telebabad:

Thanks for sharing another interesting details about you David! And again, thanks for guesting once more in my YouTube channel! Good luck and see you in our next event! Gong Xi Fa Cai! 02/07/2019 (Bits of Rocks)

Feel the Fight and Romance in the Highest Grossing Chinese Film "Never Say Die"

The Chinese New Year (CNY) is fast-approaching. And just like most of you, a Chinoy blogger and vlogger like me is preparing for this tradition. Yes, it is always my tradition here in my personal blog Bits of Rocks to celebrate the Chinese tradition with you via featuring Chinese-themed posts. On the previous years, I already featured Chinese horoscope, beliefs, holiday treats, and fun stuffs which definitely captured your attention.

This year, let's take the entertainment side (since entertainment is also one of my fortes). Have you already planned for a date with your love one watching a romcom Chinese movie?

Before KPOP domination here in the Philippines, Chinese movies were considered crowd favorites in the foreign film entertainment scene especially with themes leaning toward romcom, action and supernatural.  Another instance was during the height of the Mexican telenovela in the country in the early 2000, Chinese series Meteor Garden starring F4 was such a big hit on Television.

Chinese movie followers or even those who crave for fresh films are in for a hilarious treat as the recent blockbuster top grosser in China and Hong Kong over the recent months will now be shown in the country. Never Say Die will leave you excited all throughout the film and will have you laughing your heart out as Ai Lun (Edison) and Ma Li (Xiao Xiao) bring you a mixture of all the elements you love in a Chinese film; Action, RomCom and Supernatural all in one movie. The film is the highest-grossing in China in 2017 with a whopping US$334 million recorded in the box office.

The Official Movie Poster of Never Say Die

Never Say Die surpassed the US$250 million earned by Jackie Chan’s film Kung Fu Yoga last year, to become the biggest single-territory grosser among all live-action comedies ever released.

Here is a one-minute trailer of the said film:

Never Say Die is a movie about a has-been Ultimate Fighting King (UFK) boxer who can’t seem to get a good fight and a celebrity Journalist who is caught it in a bad romance and how destiny allowed them to straighten their acts as they switch bodies and embark in a series of misadventures to fix their intertwined predicament.

This is such an interesting film bringing back the F4 and Meteor Garden feels! Agree?! 02/06/2018 (Bits of Rocks)

Through the Years with Ken Chan

We already met with today's hottest chinito actor Ken Chan wayback in 2014. That was during the launch of his very first self-titled album.

In 2015, we met very often. The first one was during our set visit in his previous afternoon teleserye "Healing Hearts." And then before the year end, we had a Kapuso Christmas party and that time, he was already playing the character of "Destiny Rose."

Now in 2016, we had a great time during the GMA Bloggers' Style Camp where he won the most number of awards. And he was also prepping up for his upcoming concert "My Destiny."

Check out below my three years with my chinito brother Ken Chan:

Well to sum up our years:
   2014 - album
   2015 - TV series
   2016 - concert

In 2017, what do you think will be our major project with Ken? Will wait and see! Ken Chan and Rocky Chua truly rule! (RCB)

Chinitos Ken Chan and Rocky Chua Share Success Stories!

It was exactly one year ago when me and  the young celebrity actor-singer Ken Chan first met. And that was during the launch of his self-title album wherein he showcased his singing talent in an album containing his original songs and his own versions of different hit love songs. Glad that I interviewed a younger version of Ken sharing his music which I've already shared in my blogs and in my YouTube channel last 2014.

This year, me and Ken crossed path once more when we had our set visit in the afternoon teleserye "Healing Hearts." But this time, we didn't anymore talk about music. Rather we discussed acting and exciting TV projects.

During our second metup, we exchanged  stories on how we became successful in our own fields - me in the field of running and blogging while him in the field of singing and acting. As yours truly now becomes known as Runner Rocky, Ken on the other hand now turns as Destiny Rose.

Ken is now one of the most in-demand Kapuso young actor. He made a remarkable role in "Healing Hearts" playing a close friend of Joyce Ching and Kristoffer Martin. And of course, he always makes our midnight fun and lively via "Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman" being one of the regular hosts and performers.

Aside from these two regular TV projects, Ken eventually transforms into an exciting character of a transgender, a lead role in the newest GMA Afternoon Prime TV series, "Destiny Rose." Yes, in the series, get ready to see the female version of Ken!

During our conversation, Ken shared how he got his role. He underwent the normal audition process. He was so thankful that he bagged the role since the competition during the audition was really stiff as the other famous actors also auditioned for the role!

Ken also revealed his preparation for his character as "Destiny Rose." Yes, he had his own diet to maintain his figure as a girl. He was strict in the food and drinks he takes. I will share with you the video of  my fitness and diet interview with Ken in my fitness blog Runner Rocky (www.runnerrocky.com).

It was also good to know that Ken is also a theater actor. He already played different lead roles on stage. If I'm not mistaken, the popular Pinoy play "Sa Ngalan ng Ama" was his favorite.

And what me and Ken have in common?! Well, both of us were half Chinese! Definitely it's obvious since we're both chinito and his surname is Chan while my middle name is Chua!

On my next post here in my blog, I will share with you my whole video interview with Ken wherein he shared his career goal as an actor, his dream roles in the future, and his dream leading lady! Who do you think is Ken's dream leading lady that he wants to work with?! Well, find out on my next post! :) RocKenroll Ken and Rocky! (RCB)
