Food Bits: Tasting Gringo's Mexican Grill

It was my first time to try the special dishes here at the Gringo's Makati when our team decided to have a team building dinner. The food they served truly satisfied my cravings since I'm a seafood and Mexican food lover!

Yes, Gringo's offers a combination of Mexican dishes and grilled goodness.

So without further talks, let me share with you some of the food I've tried during our dinner. These are the dishes on our table:

Grilled Squid in a Mango Sauce

The Mexican Rice

Grilled Chicken

A Garlic Mushroom

Taco Con Carne

Gringo's is open 24 hours. Aside from grilled and Mexican food, they also offer party drinks and juices. Oh by the way, I love their house blend iced tea and lemonade. Their house blend iced tea is thick and taste like my favorite 'milk tea.' Meanwhile, the lemonade is made of fresh fruits - lemon and calamnasi combining a sweet sour taste. This is their drink I love the most!

Definitely, we will be coming back here for more! The Mexican rice, the grilled squid in a mango sauce, and the lemonade marked my senses!

Have you also tried Gringo's? Which of their menus you love the most?! 03/09/2019 (Bits of Rocks)

After more than one year, it's great to be back in Clark, Pampanga! This time, to experience and cover the greatest world musical fireworks competition participated by the different countries around the globe!

The event took place in SM City Clark. I've joined the Saturday,  March 2, 2019 event. But before wed discussed my last Saturday night's experience, let me tour you back in my first SM Clark experience way back in 2017. Yes, me and my #TeamRR  team been here to cover the VIOS Cup with the celebrity racers. My interviews and event coverage were on my official YouTube channel if you want to watch them all!

Now back to the present, here are my pyromusical story:

The Philippine International Pyromusical Competition (PIPC) is a tradition at the SM Mall of Asia that has brought endless enjoyment to millions of Filipinos each year. For the past 9 years, the pyrotechnics have always complied with the international standards for environmental safety, at par with countries like Canada, Australia, Hongkong and famous theme parks around the world.

In full support of the ongoing Manila Bay Rehabilitation Program of the DENR, SM Supermalls will move the 10th PIPC from SM Mall of Asia to SM City Clark in Angeles City, Pampanga starting on February 23 to March 30, 2019.

The Wide Field New Venue in SM City Clark

The Philippine International Pyromusical Competition’s annual program has 10 competing countries who take on a battle of breath taking fireworks performances amid symphony of sounds.

On March 2, Germany’s 9th PIPC champs “Steffes-Ollig Feuerwerke” and Portugal’s “Pirotecnia Minhota” will treat the crowd with their tradition and mastery of skills in the sky.

On March 9, the Pampanga skyline will witness France’s “Brezac Artifices” followed by a burst of vibrant colors by Finland’s Oy Pyroman.

Italy’s very own “Viviano S.R.L.” and last year’s champion, United Kingdom’s “Pyrotex Fireworx” will battle it out on March 16.

Here are some of my photos taken during the event:

Canada’s turn to paint the night sky bursting with colors on March 23 with their very own “Fireworks Spectaculars” and China’s Polaris Fireworks will surely stun the crowds.

To cap off the competition and close a decade of giving the best pyromusical exhibition in the Philippines, March 30 promises the most spectacular display of colors and surprises with Poland’s Surex Firma Rodzinna and the Philippines’ own Platinum Fireworks Inc. in a grand finale like no other.

The annual PIPC Photo Contest will also highlight entries from amateur and professional photographers wherein winners will receive special prizes from PIPC’s partners and sponsors.

FedRun 2019: Celebrating Another CNY Taking Part in a Fun Run

Every Chinese New Year, it's always my tradition to run in a CNY-inspired running event. I started running in CNY Lucky Chinese Run in 2016. The tradition continues up to this year.

But this 2019, instead of my usual CNY Lucky Run, me and my running team will run instead in the FedRun 2019, another edition of the Chinese New Year - Inspired running event.

To give you quick facts about FedRun, the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Alumni Associations Incorporated (FFCAAI) is an organization that aims to unite the Filipino-Chinese community. They started the annual FedRun in 2014 which aims to promote camaraderie, healthy and active lifestyle, close family ties and social awareness.

For this Fedrun2019, it will be a thematic run in-line with the Chinese New Year and participants will get a chance to get free tikoy when they register for the 10KM run!

What more, yours truly Runner Rocky and my #TeamRR is the official group partner of this race. Check out the poster below of this running event:

The running event has three distance categories - 3K, 5K, and 10K respectively! Except for a Free tikoy in the 10K category, all categories will have the event shirt, race bib, a medal and loot bags.

The actual running event will be this Sunday, February 17 at SM by the Bay! The event was launched in celebration of Federation of Filipino-Chinese Alumni Associations Incorporated (FFCAAI) 10th Founding Anniversary and Chinese New Year.

So see you all runners and friends and let's run together for prosperity, happiness, love, wellness, and wealth! 02/11/2019 (Bits of Rocks)

A Journey to Our New Home 6: The Relaxing Feel of Our Bathrooms

Welcome back to our "A Journey to Our New Home" blog series.

In every home, what we always looking for is its bathrooms or its comfort rooms (CR). Visitors may sometimes judge you by the appearance of your CR. So for this blog post, let me introduce to you our bathrooms.

Since our house or my so-called 'mini-mansion,' has 4 storeys (with the 4th floor as its roofdeck), we got 3 bathrooms - every floor (except the roofdeck) has its own.

Here are the bathrooms in our 3rd and 2nd floors:

Since our 2nd and 3rd floors cater our bedrooms, we decided to make their CRs identical. The 1st floor's bathroom is uniquely different which I will share on my succeeding post.

Our bathrooms were equip with all the things you need - rain showers with phone type and three-way faucets, lavatory, and push type automatic toilet bowls. The mirror is yet to be installed.

Meanwhile, the 1st floor's toilet is extra special. It has the shower heater!

More exciting revelations about our new home sweet home coming your way very soon so stay tune! 02/08/2019 (Bits of Rocks)

Welcome to the Year of the Earth Pig!

As I continue to spread good vibes and prosperous new year in line with the 2019 celebration of the #CNY, let me share with you another exciting blog post.

For the second time around, I met my Chinoy brother David Licauco. Yeah, he is now one of the most promising hunk heartthrob in the Kapuso network and is one of the lead stars of their newest romcom TV series "Toda One I Love" joining Kylie Padilla  and Ruru Madrid.

Just like yours truly, David is a Chinoy. He is a half-Pinoy and a half Chinese. His mother is the Chinese while his father is a Filipino.

Since we're both Chinese, David and I talked about the 2019 Chinese New Year  or the CNY. David shared their traditions. How did David celebrate the Chinese New Year? What are the beliefs they were following? Well, let's watch my vlog video interview with him:

Meanwhile, here is the related video where we talked about his current TV series airing now in GMA Telebabad:

Thanks for sharing another interesting details about you David! And again, thanks for guesting once more in my YouTube channel! Good luck and see you in our next event! Gong Xi Fa Cai! 02/07/2019 (Bits of Rocks)

Reaction Vlog: Old Daniel Padilla in the KFC TVC

The KFC Philippines TV commercial gets more and more exciting as they introduce different actors portraying the iconic character of Colonel Sanders.

In the series of their TVC, we had Ronaldo Valdez, Leo Martinez, Albert Martinez, Pen Medina, and Christopher De Leon who played Colonel Sanders.

But in the recent TVC, it eventually turned as the most trending topic when the King of Hearts Daniel Padilla portrayed the role. Yes, Daniel, a 24-year old actor is the youngest PH's Colonel Sanders. The TVC made him look old with a gray hair, an eye glass wearing the all-white signature attire of Colonel Sanders.

And since the said KFC TVC went viral with interesting new look of Daniel Padilla, I made a new reaction vlog for this.

Here is my new vlog for DJ's trending new KFC TVC:

But did you know that it's not only DJ who portrayed the youngest Colonel Sanders? Well as I've discussed in my vlog, in China's KFC, there is a K-POP Luhan  who also portrayed the same role. On the other hand, its rival food chain McDonalds tapped the other K-POP artist Kris Wu to endorse their chicken product!

In addition to this, in Nashville, there's the lead star of the TV series "Mad Men" who also played the role and a female American singer who also dressed like Colonel Sanders.

After Daniel Padilla, who do you think will be the next PH's Colonel Sanders?! Well, let's wait and see! 01/26/2019 (Bits of Rocks)

Welcome back to our blog series called "A Journey to Our New Home" where I share with you the important updates on the construction of our new home, sweet home. Few days left and we're about to the transfer to this 4-Storey dream home.

And for this post, let me share with you how our main gate was constructed.

Our main gate is a modern type. It is made of tubular GI galvanized steel bars. It will be a black horizontal one.

The gate is divided into two parts. The first one, the huge one is the garage gate. While the other one is a service gate for the persons coming in and out.

As they say pictures paint thousand words, let these pictures speak on how our gate was constructed:

And here is now the pre-final product:

This is now the pre-final design of our facade. Currently, tiling and smoothing of the front walls and post were on-going. The grills will also undergo paintings and coatings. I'll share with you the finish product on my succeeding blog posts. So stay tune folks!

"A Journey to Our New Home" is the 2019 edition of my blog series "Invasion of Our Home" which also featured in this blog 10 years ago. More exciting posts to come! 01/23/2019 (Bits of Rocks)

A Journey to Our New Home 4: The Installation of Our Dual Inverter Aircon

Before the final completion of our new home sweet home, it needs to install first our new dual inverter split type aircon to test that the electrical connections in our house is functioning correctly. Therefore even though the other parts of the house were not yet fully completed, the aircon was installed.

The question goes, why do we choose a dual inverter split type air conditioner rather than the traditional one. Well, it is mainly because, it consumes low energy! Yes, this LG dual inverter aircon has 70% less energy savings. Far lower electric consumption compared to the traditional window type aircon.

This aircon unit is 1.5 hp which can fully cool my whole master's bedroom!

Properly Installed with a Breaker

Ready to Unbox

The Other Part of the Aircon Unit

The Front of the Other Part

When you buy this type of aircon unit, there is also a team who will install it in your home. They were technical people who will properly installed and test the unit in your home.

There is a corresponding installation service charge you need to pay in addition to the total cost of the unit.

The installation team will also determine if the aircon is capable to cool the whole room. If not, they won't install the unit and they will ask you to upgrade your aircon's specs.

The Installation of the Outer Part

Now I'm ready to occupy my room! I'm excited to work and do my blogs and vlogs on the office area since aside from this aircon, the room is also equipped with a fiber internet with unlimited or no cap data. And of course on the other side of the room, I'm ready to sleep and relax while watching my favorite TV shows. :)

"A Journey to Our New Home" is the 2019 version of my 2009's very first "Invasion of Our Home" blog series. More revelation of our new house on the coming days! So stay tune folks! 01/15/2019 (Bits of Rocks)
