U Rock 5!

Last Friday during our Full Team Meeting (FTM), I gave another surprise to my teammates. This is called "U Rock 5"! What is it? And what's the significant of it?

Well, if I were to ask you, can you guess what is this so called "U Rock 5"? Actually before I announced or presented it in front of the whole team, I challenged them first to guess the meaning of it! And one of my teammates partially got the correct answer!

What's inside the envelop?

Prices and Surprises!

Yup, this is my very own way of recognizing and appreciating the good deeds done by my teammates during my project. It is my very own way of giving Bravo cards to my people with an added chocolates and gift packs!

Since I was the one who assumed the role of a Test/Project Manager or Test Coordinator (specific term in our team which means Test or Project Manager) for a particular project then it became successful, I then gave back the blessings to my best performing people.

In my project, 5 people stood out! They showed their best to accomplished their assigned task. That's why I allotted a special recognition day to them called "U Rock 5"! U which means "you" or "them", then 5 which symbolizes the total number of my recipients!

Those 5 people received from me a Bravo card, a chocolate, and a souvenir item (a small pooch containing chocolates) which they can use later!

Yeah, they were so happy as I called their names! They were so thankful to me as they received their gift packs! Each of these 5 people happily posed a picture with me!

And before we concluded this mini-program of recognition, I promised to them that next time this would not only 5. Maybe on my next projects, this would become "U Rock 10" or maybe "U Rock All" defending on the performance of my teammates!

Indeed my recently held project as a Project Manager was successful knowing that I was very new for the said job role! And "U Rock 5" spoke a sign of thanks to my people who performed very well! C",)

PS. This design logo of "U Rock 5" is my very own artistic work! Like or love it?! Hehe! C",)

The High School Class Picture IV

After my most romantic Junior year in high school, let us now proceed to my last year in college, my Senior or fourth year high school year!

If in my third year, love and career collided, this year it was more for career!

The competition for the honor graduating students really intensified! The battle between the top 10 students were really seen!

But thanks God! He further gave me His blessings! I graduated being the First Honorable Mention student! My final grade was really closer with our valedictorian and salutatorian! So proud that I graduated with honor! =)

But it was not all! Besides being a First Honorable graduate, I was also crowned as the Best in Social Studies and the "Mamamahayag Ng Taon"!

What more, my fourth year high school days were really a successful one! I participated in the different seminars and trainings, I won in the different Quiz Bees (in Science, World History, Pop Quiz, etc.)! And I was also the topnotcher in our NSAT exam! Great!

The blessings did not stopped here. Before I enter college, I got my DOST scholarship! Thank you Lord!

Well, these were my four class pictures in high school! Do you see how my physical appearance developed in these four pictures?!

Nice to reminisce these good old days! Moments, our days, and special events were all flashes in my mind seeing these four high school pictures! Thanks for letting your time with me remembering my high school days with the four class pictures! See you once again...!!! C",)

The High School Class Picture III

After my disappointment year during my sophomore year, let us now go to my most precious year in high school. This is my Junior or my third year high school year! Did you know that this year was my "Golden Year" in high school?!

Yup, it was my most successful and most memorable year to me during high school! My academic career and my love life really bloomed during this year!

Academically speaking, I really performed best in all my subjects! I was a top-rater in our hardest subject Science and Technology III which was Chemistry! I consistently got a ceiling grade for this subject. And I further won in our different Quiz Bee competitions! All my subjects, I got the highest grades! And most of all, I became the Top 2 in our Top 10 Honor roll!

Of course this was my most romantic yea in HS. This was the year when I felt the so-called 'first love'! Wow! Falling in love with a fourth year student, my co-history quiz mate was the most memorable moment or the trade mark of this year!

To be exact, it was September 19, 1999 when I first met her during our Philippine History review. From that moment, the rest of my third year high school days were turned upside down because of her! I really felt so 'kilig' reminiscing our moments! "Born For You", "Before I Fall in Love", and "I Knew I Love You" were some of our theme songs!

Hayz...I really love this year! School Year 1999-2000 was indeed the most successful one! C",)

The High School Class Picture II

After you saw my freshmen class picture, time now to proceed in my sophomore high school year.

My sophomore or my second year high school school year was on 1998-99. Yup, I was a 14-year old boy during those days. Still like a toddler! Haha... Can you spot me here in the picture?!

On this year, I further became excellence in Social Studies 2, that time it was Asian History! I got a consistent high grades, top-rater scores in every quizzes, and really show great excellence in this subject.

But the worst thing was, I was not became the Best in Social Studies in this year! You know why?! It was because my great rival for this subject, our valedictorian cheated us. When our teacher asked us to bring cleaning materials, all of us didn't able to bring. When I called my surname (I was the first in the list that was called since my surname started with letter B) I honestly told that I wasn't bring any! My teacher got angry! But when our valedictorian surname was called (she was called second to the last since her surname started with letter T), she used her handkerchief as a rug (kunwari) just to say that she had brought a cleaning material. Therefore our teacher was not get angry with her. Then our teacher eventually said, "now I know who will be my Best in Social Studies is...ang pagiging best ay hindi lang nakukuha sa galing kundi sa pagiging responsable!" pertaining to our valedictorian! So dishonest! That event made me cry too hard!!!

Other than this disappointed moment, the best thing that was most memorable in this year was our THE II class. Yup, always every week we always performed a drama or a role play. And our teacher was always proud on us. We always got a ceiling grade for every role play we performed! And I always won a best actor award! Hehe...

What other more memorable things during high school?! Well, we will discuss in my next posts! C",)

The High School Class Picture I

Yup this is my class picture when I was in First year high school. As you can see all of us were really young boys and girls. We all look like toddlers!

I was only a 13-year old boy in this picture. Yeah, too young and a fresh new teen!

My Freshmen year was on School Year 1997-98. The highlight of my first year high school year were the times when we always joined and won in the different drama skit contest. I was started to be known here as a best script writer. All my scripts were used in the drama contest and won.

In terms of Quiz Bee, I always joined in the different Science and Technology Quiz Bee during Science Fair and Quiz and won. And of course, in Social Studies I (Philippine History), I always brought home the bacon in every History Quiz Bee.

Yup, in this school year, Science and Philippine History were my cup of tea! These were my two strengths. But then in my over all academic performance, I excel putting me in the top 10 honor roll!

And at the end of our school year, I grabbed the crown being the "Best in Social Studies"!

Beside these things, I have other more stories to tell during my high school years. So watch out for that! These were just some of the things I remembered during my Freshmen days in HS! C",)

The Feast of San Juan Bautista

Today, June 24, we are celebrating the feast of San Juan Bautista. If I'm not mistaken, this is the day when Jesus Christ was baptized by San Juan in the river of Jordan. That's why when you get along ridding a jeepney in the City of San Juan or in Manila, you will be poured by water! Or maybe today is his birthday?! Hmmm...

Yup, this is the tradition I most remember way back again in my childhood days. I remember when I was a 5-year old kid, me, my father, and my mother went to church ridding in a jeepney. We were got wet by the people on the road as they poured water in our jeepney. We need then to change our wet clothes!

And did you also know that in this same day my mom is celebrating her birthday?! Yup, today is also the birthday of my mother! And right now she is preparing foods for us. My nephew and my aunties were already in our home today to celebrate our mom's birthday!

And besides my mom, my friend and my co-editor in our college student publication named Edlee is also celebrating his 26TH birthday today. "Pa-burger ka Pre...!" Even my look-alike actor, Mr. John Lloyd Cruz is also celebrating his birthday today!

Well, it seems that there's a lot to celebrate today! Birthdays of my mom, my friend Edlee, my look-alike actor Lloydie, and San Juan Bautista in addition to the regular holiday in the City of San Juan and Manila.

Therefore, allow me to give greetings to all of them! To my mother, Edlee, Lloydie, and San Juan Bautista...

"Happy Birthdays!" C",)

The Father's Day Story

Today we are celebrating Father's Day. Yup, today is the special day to all of our fathers.

But did you know how the celebration of Father's Day started? Well, I will share with you this story:

History of Father's Day

History of Father's Day Festival as seen today is not even a hundred years old. Thanks to the hard work and struggle of Ms Sonora Louise Smart Dodd of Washington that just as we have set aside Mother's Day to honor mothers we have a day to acknowledge the important role played by the father. However, some scholars opine that Father's Day history is much older than we actually believe it to be. They say that the custom of honoring dad's on a special day is over 4,000 years old. There are a few more claims about the Father's Day origin about which we will learn in this page.

Earliest History of Father's Day

Scholars believe that the origin of Father's Day is not a latest phenomenon, as many believe it to be. Rather they claim that the tradition of Father's Day can be traced in the ruins of Babylon. They have recorded that a young boy called Elmesu carved a Father's Day message on a card made out of clay nearly 4,000 years ago. Elmesu wished his Babylonian father good health and a long life. Though there is no record of what happened to Elmesu and his father but the tradition of celebrating Father's Day remained in several countries all over the world.

History of Father's Day in US

Modern version of Father's Day celebration originated in United States of America and thereafter the tradition spread in countries around the world. The world owes thanks to Ms Sonora Louise Smart Dodd a loving daughter from Spokane, Washington as it is because of her struggle that Father's Day saw the light of the day.

The idea of Father's Day celebration originated in Sonora's mind when she per chance listened to Mother's Day sermon in 1909. Fairly mature at the age 27, Sonora pondered if there is a day to honor mother then why not for father? Sonora felt strongly for fathers because of the affection she received from her own father Mr William Jackson Smart, a Civil War veteran. Sonora's mother died while childbirth when she was just 16. Mr Smart raised the newborn and five other children with love and care.

Inspired by Ms Anna Jarvis's struggle to promote Mother's Day, Ms Dodd began a rigorous campaign to celebrate Father's Day in US. The Spokane Ministerial Association and the local Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) supported Sonora's cause. As a result Spokane celebrated its first Father's Day on June 19, 1910. Though there was initial hesitation the idea gained gradual popularity all over US and Fathers Day came to be celebrated in cities across the country.

Looking at the heightened popularity of Father's Day in US, President Woodrow Wilson approved of this idea in 1916. President Calvin Coolidge too supported the idea of a national Father's Day in 1924 to, "establish more intimate relations between fathers and their children and to impress upon fathers the full measure of their obligations". After a protracted struggle of over four decades, President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation declaring the third Sunday of June as Father's Day in 1966. Then in 1972, President Richard Nixon established a permanent national observance of Father's Day to be held on the third Sunday of June. Sonora Smart Dodd was honored for her contribution at the World's Fair in Spokane in 1974. Mrs. Dodd died in 1978 at age 96.

Present Day Celebrations

Father's Day Festival has gained amazing popularity over the years. The festival is considered to be a secular one and is celebrated not just in US but in a large number of countries around the world including Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, France, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Norway and India though on different dates. World over people take Father's Day as an opportunity to thank father and pay tribute to them. On this day children present Father's Day cards not just to their dads but also grandfathers, uncles, stepfathers or any other person who commands the position of a father in their life. There is also a trend to present Father's Day gift to dad, most popular of all being necktie. Other popular gift being roses, the official Father's Day flower. Many people rue that the trend of presenting gifts to fathers has led to over commercialization of the festival relegating the noble idea behind Father's Day celebration.

Growing Creatures (Part 3)

After I get out my eight creatures from the plastic pack, they were now ready to be submerged in water. All of them were really, really excited to grow!

Do you imagine where will I put them? Do you foresee how they will be placed? Am I going to place them in a jar or in bottle? Or maybe you will thinking that I will place them in a basin of water just like I did before during my childhood?!

Well, take a look at them:

In a Circular Jar

Ready to be Submerged

Now do you already know where will I put them? Exactly...! You're correct!

As you can see, they were preliminary putted on the cover of a circular mini-jar. Yup, that circular thing where they were placed was not a basin. Rather it was a cover of a mini-jar. And yes, I will put them in that mini-jar!

But why did I put them in the circular cover? Am I doing something else?! Well actually, I am measuring the capacity of that mini-jar. I'm wondering if they eight can be fitted together in that jar! What's my findings...?!

Well, that will be the big question! On my next post, you will find out! Let us see how they were be fitted! To be continue... C",)

The Movie Replay!

It's been 5 years from now when this movie of Angel Locsin and Richard Gutierrez became a huge hit! You know that before, I really hate this movie and the 'chardgel' love team since they were both Kapuso (knowing that I'm a certified Kapamilya). But I didn't know, eventually, I will love this love team very much. Yup, because they really symbolize my longest ran love affair in college! This movie as well as the other Angel-Richard movies reflects our love story!

Though I really very much recovered from that 'Mulawin' like love affair in college which started on the 14th day of September 2005, the whole thing flashes on my mind when I watched again this move last Sunday night. GMA-7 replay this movie via their SNBO (Sunday Night Box Office) TV program.

Hmmm...Do We Have a Kissing Scene Like This?!

Look At Their Clothes, They Were Like the Clothes We Wear!

I can't explain what I feel that night! Am I still feeling 'kilig'? Am I falling inlove again with the same person I loved 5 years ago? Or I'm just reminiscing the feelings and moments we had before?!

Just like this movie replay, "grabe...parang na-replay din ang pakiramdam..." Oops...but not that stronger! Just sparks of feelings smiled in my heart! "Habang pinanonood ko sina Angel at Richard, grabe...kaming-kami 'un!" The way they act, the way they showed their romance, we were like them before! OMG!

And look even the way they dress...yup, they were like us! If you can still remember how we dressed in college, we were like Angel and Richard! "As in, ganun na ganun..." "Yung mga sinuot nila dun sa movie na'to, nasuot na din namin...!"Haha!

Me, My Lover, My Bestfriend and Her Lover!

Oops...if Angel and Richard have their own best friends and sidekicks through the persons of Jennelyn Mercado and Mark Herras, "meron din kami.."! They were Marfe and Seth! Yeah, my bestfriend named Marfe was Jennelyn Mercado while her former love interest Seth Infante was Mark Herras! Great! Now we formed a double date, a double romance! I really missed this!

One of the best moments I remembered most between the four us was during the day that me, Marfe, Seth, and my lover were jammi'n together in our publication office. There were drums in our PA office. My lover and Seth were beating the drums like a band. Marfe and I both feel the ultimate 'kilig' hearing them playing the musical drums. Marfe even offered candies to them. While me just stayed in-front of the computer and enjoyed watching them! What a great moment that time! I really love it...! Superb emotions! Two pairs were combined just like in this movie.

In the movie, I love seeing the picnic scenes of these four people. They chase each other. I remembered then our moments. The words of my kontrabida EIC once registered on my mind saying, "kung sila naghahabulan sa park kayo (referring to us) nagpapa-picture sa garden...!"

And just like the role of Angel and Richard (Pia and Eric) in this movie, both of us gave rise to the so-called savior! Hmmm...who's the savior between the two of us?!

Truly, "Let The Love Begin" was one of the Chardgel movies that reflects our love story. "Nakikita ko sa unang pelikula na'to ang aming pinagsamahan..." No one can deny this...! "Napapangiti na lang ako habang naaalala ko ang aming nakaraan...!!!C",)

Black Cat on the Pillow Sofa!

There's a cat...! There's a cat...! There's a black cat in our green pillow sofa! Oops...she looks very familiar to all of us!

Yeah it's Miming Negro! I know you really missed her here in The Rock Land! As you all wish, she's coming back...!

But why is she not looking to us?! Are she showing her back? And what is she doing in our green pillow sofa?!

Well Miming Negro has something to give us! She has a big surprise to all of her fans! What is it? Hmmm...we will reveal later! =)

Actually this is only her teaser. On my next post we will all see what the surprise of Miming Negro is?! She is now turning to be a certified fashionista! She is now a true-black 'pusa fashionista'!

Hahaha...! Excited to see her?! Or really can't wait to see her beauty!? Well extend your patient since right now she is in the dressing room! We will all witness the ever beautiful Ms. Miming Negro on the next post! So by now, let us just enjoy Miming Negro's sexy back! See yah..! C",)

Growing Creatures (Part 2)

Welcome back to the sequel of my growing creatures series! After I showed you my tiny creatures inside their plastic pack after I bought them, time now to remove them on their shield. And these how they look like!

As I have said, two types of creatures were inside a plastic pack. I have a total of four plastics. Therefore all my growing creatures were equal to eight! I have eight different creatures, tiny for now but later they were grow big!

So small, so tiny, but colorful. You may take a glance on them:

The Creatures Were All Excited to Submerge in Water

Fall In Line...First Come, First Serve!

Just like what you see, I have a frog, a turtle, a reptile, a dinosaur, a fish, a lizard, and two starfish! They were too cute though too small in size by now! Hmmm...have you imagine how they will look when they grow?!

Another thing that I have observed, seems that these creatures were both can live on land and on water! Like the frog, the turtle, the reptile and the starfish! But of course except for the lizard and the dinosaur which could only live on land while the fish is only for water! But in their case, they have no choice! Yeah all of them will live in water in order to grow!

What will happen next on them? Are we all ready to see them submerge on water? What other things we will do?! Well catch up the third part of this exciting growing creatures! See you later! To be continue... C",)

The Dream

Last night, I dreamed about something special. It was about my former classmate in college with a nickname that starts with the letter "W" whom I used to be my crush before. The last time we met in one of the prestige mall here in Makati, I felt that I like her.

Well for this post, allow me to share with you my special dream. This how my dream goes:

As in, lips to lips kami!

As in magkasama kaming natutulog sa kwarto!

As in, hinahabol nila kami!

Naku, patay, na-corner kami! Takbo kami ng takbo makaiwas sa kanila. Pero malapit na nila kaming maabutan! Hetong da best, habang tumatakbo kami, magkahawak kami ng kamay! We are 'holding hands' while running!

We were holding hands too tight! Sarap!

And that how my sweet dream goes! I can't really forget W. because of that dream. She eventually stayed on my mind! Hope to see W. so soon! And from now on, I wouldn't anymore call W. through her nickname. Rather I will call her as A., her real name! Para pang teleserye! Kasi 'ung real name nya which starts with a letter A. ay pang-teleserye ang dating, pang-Mexiconovela baga...! C",)

The Barbie Angel

Have you able to see the barbie version of this year's FHM Sexiest Women topnotcher and young superstar Ms. Angel Locsin?! Well if not yet, take a look at the picture above!

Yeah, so cute...so beautiful...really lovely! Angel Locsin in real person and in a doll version are really cute, pretty, and sexy! She can really catch the attention of everyone! =)

Actually, I got that picture on the Fan Page of Ms. Angel Locsin. And it really caught my eyes! Wow, she was really lovely and nice even in this barbie! And everybody really appreciates her true beauty! And take note that she is really beautiful inside and out! That's why no one can pull her down! She still and further soars higher!

I really like that picture. The eyes, the figure, the smile, and the complexion really depicts the true beauty of Ms. Angel Locsin. So relaxing to the eyes! Hope I can own that one and put it in my collection! Oh, where can we buy that barbie version of Ms. Angel Locsin?!

So nice, so great...! Angel Locsin is really the only one. No one can ever replace her! She's the best!

Moreover, if the barbie version of the real Angel Locsin is available, can we also expect for the barbie version of other Angel Locsin's characters like Alwyna in "Mulawin", Darna, Sabina in "Majika", Gabriela in "Asian Treasure", Lyka in "Lobo", Chef Jilian in "Only You", and of course her vampire version in the upcoming "Imortal"?! Well if that will prosper, everybody will be very, very happy...!!! Nice one Angel! C",)

My Beef Taco Recipe

It's another yummy post once again! Today, I will share with you another recipe of mine! I was inspired to cook this own recipe when my officemate brought a dish like this in our office. So, I make my own!

After I let you taste my special pasta macaroni, spaghetti de rocky, and choco-gelatin dessert (did I forgot something?), now come and taste my very own...beef taco recipe! Ohh yeah!

These are my ingredients:

A Grind Beef

Red Slices of Tomato

Cabbage Toppings

The Taco Chips

Also part of the ingredients were tomato paste and white onion rings! I just forgot to took a photo of them!

So since our ingredients were complete, let us now start cooking!

The first thing to do is to saute the grind beef in hot cooking oil together with the bits of tiny-chopped garlic. Stir them until the beef turns brownish indicating that it is already cooked. Mixed now the tomato paste into the cooked grind beef. Then put drops of grind pepper, salt, and very little amount of vetsin to it. Taste. Once the taste is ok, remove the cooked beef from the frying pan then put it in your serving bowl.

Now prepare the other ingredients of your beef taco, the raw vegetables! Put them in the other separated plates. With the cooked beef blended with tomato paste, cabbage, tomato slices, white onion rings, and taco chips, our special beef taco is ready to eat!

The taco chip will serve as your plate (but of course you will still put it in a small platito). Put teaspoons of cooked grind beef in your taco chip. Then top it with tomato slices, cabbage, and white onion rings! Now you have your beef taco ready to eat as a snack or a main dish! Yum-yum-yum!

In addition to this, you may also combine a grind pork together with the grind beef to make a beef-pork combo taco! If you want, you may also top a cucumber ring in your taco! But remember that, always use a white onion in your toppings rather than the red one to prevent your breath from smelling bad! Yup red onions are a mere source of bad breaths!

Well, what more can you add?! Do you like my recipe? What other more ingredients you may suggest?! Next time I will share with you more and more recipe from your very own Chef Rocky! At your service...!!! C",)

Growing Creatures (Part 1)

Last Sunday when we went shopping with my mom in a nearby supermarket, I found these cute little things which eventually brought back my childhood memories. Yup, this is one of my favorite toys which I loved to play during my kiddie days!

I didn't exactly know what the name of this toy. But since this type of toy eventually grow when you put it into water for a couple of days, I just termed it as "Growing Creatures" toy!

Remembering back my childhood moments playing with this kind of toy, I eventually bought four plastic of it!

Four Plastics of Growing Creatures

Two Types of Creatures in One Plastic

I Can't Wait to see Them Growing

Usually this toy is in the form of dinosaurs, crocodiles, or any wild large forms of animals. At first, they were too small! But when you place them in water then wait at least one, two, or three days, they will eventually grow! A former tiny thing then become a big stuff!

I bought four plastics of this small toy. Each plastic contains two types of creatures. These creatures inside the plastics were fish, dinosaurs, frog, reptile, lizard, and star fish!

I'm not yet putting them into water or taking them out from their plastic. Oh, I'm too excited to see them growing!

What will I do next? How will they look like when they grow? Well, we will answer those questions on my next posts. To be continue... C",)

The Big Transformation!

This is the latest big billboard you will see along EDSA in Balintawak. Before, they were the one who looking up for the stars. Now, they were the one who were looking at by many as the brightest stars!

Yup, there were the successful Big 5 of the recently concluded "Pinoy Big Brother Double-Up edition. The hottest and the record-breaking season of PBB!

I know you still remember Johan Santos, Tibo, Paul Jake Castillo, Jason Francisco, and Melissa Cantiveros 'cause they were now one of the big thing on TV and on the entertainment industry!

Well, after dominating our TV screens, look at them now. They dominate even the fashion and billboard world! They really dominate the road and the eyes of the passers. Yup, people passing through EDSA were really magnetized by them!

Aside from the four hottest boys, the only girl in the group who is Melai caught the attention of the crowd. They couldn't believe that Melai now turned to be a beautiful lady! Before, we were thinking of the projects that were allotted for Melason (Jason and Melai) love team as well as the Big 5 member. But now, we can't count their projects since they were too many to handle!

Yeah, everybody truly loves this big billboard. This only proves that all of us, even though impossible at first could reach for our own stars! Good job housemates! Keep this coming...! We want more, more, more...!!! C",)

June: A Back To School Special!

Time is really fast...! We are already in the month of June! Oh, we already reached the half part of 2010! Oh so fast!

Speaking of the month of June, the first thing that comes on our mind is school! Yup, June is a back to school month! Every students as well as their parents were all preparing for school. Some students were excited to return to school. Others did not!

Am I excited to be back in school?! What are the things I missed about schooling? Is there someone I missed in school?!

But in my status today, I am not anymore a student! I am currently a professional employee. What then will be the impact of this back to school in my life?

Well for this month of June, the Rock Land will be a back to school special! Yeah, I'm not anymore a student but the years wherein I was a student were so memorable! I can never reached my status today if I didn't end up my school days successfully! So for this month, allow me to give a special tribute to my past school days as well as to our present schooling.

So for this month, expect many school-related topics, humors, and interesting stories about the academe. Of course we will also tackle different out of school topics! But then I allot this month or name this month as The Rock Land's Back to School Special! It's my way of saying 'Thank You' to a very fruitful school days I had before...! C",)
